CBI on Wednesday arrested two persons who had been allegedly absconding since the murder of Abhijit
Sarkar, a BJP worker in the post-poll violence at Kankurgachi on May 2, 2021.
The two, Sanjay Barik and Papiya Barik, residents of Sitalatala Lane at Thalurpukur and accused in Sarkar’s murder, landed in the CBI net from a workshop near Kestopur. They were remanded in 14-day judicial custody by an additional district judge court.
Probing into the post poll violence, the CBI sent summons to at least 10 people accused in the murder of Sarkar. The duo had not appeared before the CBI, despite a warrant being issued against them. “They were arrested by the agency on Wednesday morning.
