Kolkata: The time had come to teach Pakistan a lesson in a language they understood,
Trinamool Congress national general secretary
Abhishek Banerjee said on Sunday, adding this was "not the moment for more surgical strikes or symbolic threats".
"It is time to teach them a lesson in the language they understand. It's time to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Period," he wrote on X.
Saying that he was "closely following the conduct of the mainstream media and those at the helm of Union govt" over the past few days, Banerjee claimed: "Instead of deeply investigating the lapses that led to this unprecedented terror attack in Pahalgam, they seem more focused on pushing a narrative that benefits a particular political party."
"It's time we rise above such petty politics and confront this issue decisively, once and for all," the Trinamool MP wrote.
Banerjee's statements came on a day when PM
Narendra Modi reiterated that the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack and those involved in the conspiracy would be served the most stringent punishment and asserted that the victims would receive justice. In his ‘Mann Ki Baat' address, Modi said the solidarity of Indians in the war against terrorism was the country's biggest strength.
Asking hard questions on security and intelligence lapses, Trinamool said at last Thursday's all-party meeting in Delhi that while it supported govt in its fight against terrorism, the Centre must introspect on what led to the massacre. TMC also asked why, when faced with a tragedy of this magnitude, the Centre did not convene an all-party meet that could have been attended by party chiefs, including CM Mamata Banerjee, but was limited to an all-parliamentary party meeting.
On Saturday, Trinamool launched a scathing attack on the Centre, accusing it of "deliberately" leaving Baisaran valley unguarded. It also alleged that not guarding the meadows was part of a plan to "maintain a fake ‘all-is-well' Kashmir narrative".
