Kolhapur: The office bearers of Shiv Sena (UBT) have sent a statement of demand to KMC administrator, seeking information about overall works done so far with Rs 100 crore funds received last year for development of 16 major roads in the city.
The party workers alleged that the road works were not carried out as per the plan. They warned that if a detailed report was not provided in the next five days, a sit-in protest would be held outside KMC.
Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader Sanjay Pawar said, "The KMC administrator should provide a detailed report about the funds received till now by KMC from the state govt for the said work compared to total approved funds of Rs 100 crore. How much work has been completed to date in percentage? Names of the roads where the work is completed and where the works are pending should be provided to citizens. What is the amount paid to the concerned road contractor appointed for this project?"
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) district convenor Vijay Devane said, "If the detailed information is not provided by KMC in next five days, we will stage a sit-in protest in front of the KMC building everyday from 11 am to 5 pm with saffron flags until the relevant information is received."
The work of constructing roads in the city from Rs 100.33 crore funds approved by the state govt under Maharashtra Suvarna Jayanti Nagarotthan Yojana is currently on. The concerned contractor missed the deadline for road construction on several occasions.
