Kanpur: Body of a car driver was found in a drain opposite a petrol pump along the Kalyanpur-Shivli Road in Bairi Asai in Kanpur Dehat. Upon learning of the discovery of the body the family suspected foul play and staged a protest. The police station in-charge arrived, pacified the gathering, and arranged for the body's post-mortem examination. Ved Prakash Mishra (32), son of Santosh Mishra, worked as a doctor's driver in Kanpur. On Wednesday morning, an employee of a garbage collection company spotted his partially clothed body in drain opposite the petrol pump and informed locals.
The deceased's siblings, Sant Sewak, Kallu, Baua and Om Prakash, who reached the location, explained that he usually returned home each evening. When he didn't arrive till late Monday evening, they presumed he stayed at his Kanpur residence and didn't conduct a search. The relatives created a disturbance, claiming murder and body disposal. Police station in-charge Harmeet Singh reached the spot, consoled the family, and conducted a site inspection. The police recovered the deceased's mobile phone, lunchbox, and towel near the body. "Further action will be based on a formal complaint, besides autopsy report, evidence, and other necessary findings," Singh further said.
