AGTF grills Khan to trace gang’s Dubai nexus, Hawala network
Jaipur: The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Rajasthan Police is focusing its probe on unravelling the larger network of Lawrence Bishnoi and Rohit Godara gang's operations in the UAE, following the arrest of Ilyas Khan in Sikar Friday.
Khan, who was operating for the gang from Dubai and was arrested after returning to India to visit his family for Eid, is currently being interrogated to uncover threats made to Rajasthan-based businessmen and to expose the hawala routes used for funnelling extortion money from Rajasthan to Dubai.
Sources in AGTF said Khan is being questioned about his involvement in the extortion attempt on vegetable and fruit trader Salim Khan. "Khan was booked in reference to the FIR registered at Muhana police station for threatening Khan. He was produced in court and sent to one-day police custody. We will seek his further remand Sunday," a senior AGTF official said.
He added that Khan was taken to Ramgarh Sethan in Sikar Saturday for physical verification, as it is the place from where he was arrested and where he originally belongs.
AGTF is cross-referencing digital evidence recovered from Khan's devices, including chats and call logs, to track possible victims and handlers abroad. "Khan was more than just a messenger. He acted as a critical bridge between the gang members hiding in the UAE and those on the ground in Rajasthan," a senior AGTF official said.
Khan's access to the Dubai police's intelligence division, where he worked as a storekeeper, is another key point under scrutiny. AGTF officials said that Khan provided shelter to Rohit Godara and Virendra Charan and alerted many members of the gang about Red Corner Notices. This information helped the gang members escape at crucial moments, delaying multiple arrests.
AGTF is also verifying claims that Khan sheltered criminals from Punjab and Haryana in Dubai's Rolla area. Intelligence suggests that he arranged forged documents and safe houses to assist fugitives relocating from Rajasthan to the UAE.
