18-yr-old board exam star dies of heart attack in Indore
Indore: An 18-year-old student died of a suspected cardiac arrest in Indore on Friday night -- the second such tragedy in the city in less than a week.
The deceased, Piyush, was a bright Class 11 student who moved to Indore from Chitavad village, 150km away, to prepare for IIT-JEE and lived in a rented room in Bhanwarkuan with his brother.
He was studying late into the night on Friday when he suddenly started feeling uneasy, Bhanwarkuan police station in charge Rajkumar Yadav said. His brother and neighbours rushed him to MY Hospital, 5km away, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Alerted by doctors, police took custody of the body. The postmortem was conducted on Saturday. Cause of death appears to be a heart attack, said Yadav, adding that they are waiting for the final autopsy report.
Piyush's cousin, Dharmendra, said he was an excellent student who scored 98% in his Class 10 board exams without any private tuition, and had come to Indore specifically to prepare for competitive exams. On the night of the incident, he was studying until around 1am.
The family, originally from Morena, took Piyush's body back home after postmortem. Whether he had any preexisting illness will be determined once the statements of family members are recorded, said Yadav.
Last Sunday, a schoolboy died on his 18th birthday. Arjun Patel had dinner after performing Ashtami Puja at his home and slept the previous night. In the morning, he experienced severe pain in his chest and was rushed to hospital but died during treatment.
