Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday asserted that there is no rationale for engaging in discussions with Maoists alleging that they have perpetrated violence against innocent people. During an event where he unveiled a Hanuman statue in Kothapalli, Karimnagar district, he slammed both past and current political attempts to negotiate with Maoists.
His remarks gain significance as chief minister A Revantn Reddy and former CM and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao have appealed for peace talks with
Naxals. "Engaging in dialogue with those who have taken innocent lives is futile. Any conversation is pointless until they relinquish their weapons," he said.
Bandi recalled that it was the Congress party that previously imposed a ban on the Maoists, accusing them of planting landmines and assassinating leaders from various political parties, including BJP, Congress, and TDP.
He also stated that the Maoists were indulging in killing of innocent tribals suspected of being informants, which has caused significant distress to their families.
He further expressed concerns regarding the Congress' lack of response to the presence of Rohingyas in India and called for clarification on their stance. "We are identifying and repatriating foreigners lacking passports, while Congress chooses to remain silent," he stated.
Regarding corruption, Sanjay highlighted the lack of action on the NDSA report concerning the Kaleshwaram project. He accused both Congress and BRS of vying to engage Maoists in discussions for political gain. "There will be no negotiations with Naxals," he asserted.
Describing the Modi govt's initiative to conduct a central caste census as ‘historic', he slammed the Congress-led caste census as inadequate. "The Congress survey has done a disservice to BCs by diminishing their representation," he remarked, accusing the party of deceiving the public and failing to fulfil its six promises.
