Startup, incubation cells in all govt colleges soon
Panaji: Director of higher education Bhushan Savoikar on Thursday said that the directorate is in the process of establishing a startup and incubation cell in all govt colleges in the state during the current academic year of 2025-26 itself. Savoikar said that the aim of this initiative is to develop entrepreneurship qualities in students at these institutes.
“Our main objective is to give industry education, carry out skill development in students, along with giving them exposure to entrepreneurship,�?Savoikar said.
To begin with, Pernem govt college, Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye College of Commerce and Arts, signed an MoU with the industry body for MSMEs, Laghu Udyog Bharati, Goa chapter.
President of Laghu Udyog Bharati, Goa chapter, Pallavi Salgaocar, said that the organisation has more than 50,000 members across the country and will help students by offering training programmes, facilitating industry visits, lectures by expert members, providing skill development, offering on-the-job education, and educating students on export procedures.
She said students will also be encouraged to work with MSMEs and they will be guided over placements.
“This collaboration aims to facilitate structured internship programmes within member industries and organisations, offer opportunities for real-world project work and case studies, provide guest lectures and mentorship from industry professionals, and align curriculum with the evolving needs of local industries, enhancing graduate employability,�?Salgaocar said. “We will also explore the potential for joint research projects and skill development initiatives.�?br/>
