New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said that Delhi's budget will not be limited to just figures but will become a medium to raise the standard of living of Delhiites, strengthen basic facilities, and speed up development.
In a post on X, Gupta stated that the budget will cater to the needs of all sections of society. Earlier, Gupta chaired a meeting of BJP's legislative party over the budget 2025-26 at DDA's park Bansera, where she emphasised adequate budgetary allocations for strengthening basic facilities such as water supply, sewerage, and proper roads.
"This budget will be prepared in the interest and prosperity of the city. It will provide a lot of happiness to Delhi," she said.
The chief minister's office said that Gupta attentively listened to the suggestions made by the MLAs on the budget. Most legislators also stressed adequate allocation for drinking water supply, cleaning of drains, proper sewage systems, and good quality roads. The MLAs also highlighted the issue of poor infrastructure and facilities in slum clusters, urging special provisions for development projects in these areas. Many raised constituency-specific issues and requested budgetary provisions to address problems caused by the previous government's "complete negligence" over the past decade.
Apart from taking feedback from the general public through telephone and email, the CM and her cabinet colleagues held separate interactions with various sections of people to get their feedback on budget.
