DELHI: A man was murdered by three men inside an RTV bus in Bawana. The victim was carrying food items home, which accidentally spilled onto a bus seat.
The accused, including the bus driver and his two friends, thrashed him with a rod and also attacked his private parts. They then dumped his body near the Bawana Flyover. Police arrested one of the accused in the case.
The deceased was identified as Manoj alias Babu, who lived with his family in Narela and worked as a cook in wedding functions. Police received a PCR call on Feb 2 that a body was lying by the roadside near the Bawana Flyover.
A team from the local police station reached the spot and found the body. Initially, there were no visible injuries, and the body appeared to be that of a vagabond.
After a day of effort, the body was identified as Manoj alias Babu through his brother Jitendra, who lives in Gautam Colony, Narela. Jitendra reported that his brother was missing since the early morning of Feb 2.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Feb 5, which revealed that the deceased had multiple internal injuries and injuries to his private parts. Police investigations revealed that Manoj, along with Dinesh, worked as cooks at wedding functions. On Feb 1, both attended a wedding function in Sultanpur Dabas. After finishing their work, they packed some leftover food and boarded an RTV bus.
According to police, Manoj accidentally spilled food on the bus seats and floor, infuriating the driver and his friends. They allowed Dinesh to disembark at Bawana Chowk but prevented Manoj from doing so. The driver, Ashish alias Ashu, and his accomplices started abusing and thrashing Manoj.
"Ashu also used a rod to attack Manoj's private parts. After Manoj became unconscious, the accused threw his body near the Bawana Flyover and fled in their bus," police said.
A case under sections 103 (1) (murder) and 3 (5) (common intention) of the BNS was registered at Bawana police station. During a raid, one of the accused, Sushant Sharma alias Chutkuli (24), a resident of Karala, was arrested.
DCP (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan said multiple teams have been formed to apprehend the other two accused. "They are scanning CCTV footage to ascertain the routes taken by the accused to flee. Raids are going on at multiple places to nab the duo," he said. Police have also denied that there was any attempt at sodomy by the accused.
