Bhopal: The district education centre has revoked recognition of a private school in Bhopal where a three-year-old student was sexually assaulted in Sept last year. Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh to issue orders on Thursday night to halt the school's functioning.
This is Bhopal's first instance where officials took charge of a private institution. A cluster principal has been designated for administration.
The school has lost recognition for classes 1-8. The directive specifies that the school's operations shall end from session 2025-26. Existing students must seek admission elsewhere. Those enrolled under RTE can shift to govt institutions, whilst others need to secure admissions in different schools.
The school presently has 324 enrolled students. After public protests last year, officials sealed the premises. Upon receiving a six-member committee's findings, collector Singh advocated govt supervision under DEO.
Officials formed two investigation teams. The first inquiry revealed significant shortcomings in the institution's safety measures for female students. Later, a second committee presented their operational assessment to the collector.
