Bengaluru: A secretary with the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Channapatna, Ramanagara district, was arrested Friday for accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 through a security guard to grant a licence to a shop. The accused is B Shashikala.
Lokayukta police also arrested Krishnamurthy, who worked as a security guard with APMC, for receiving the bribe. "A merchant, identified as Rehmat Ali of Channapatna, wanted to open a mango mandi. When approached, Shashikala demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000. Ali filed a complaint with us, and we set the trap. Ali handed over the money to Krishnamurthy on APMC premises when we caught him red-handed," Lokayukta police said.
