11 Dandupalya gangsters get death penalty

BANGALORE: The special court conducting trials in the Dandupalya gang cases sentenced 11 members to death on Thursday. Special judge H R Srinivas convicted them in 14 cases, including 10 murders. The convicted are Krishan alias Dandupalya Krishna, Doddahanuma, Venkatrama, Munikrishna, Kothi Thimma, Venkatesh alias Chandra, Munikrishna, Nalla Thimma, Thikka Muniyappa, Krishnudu and Dandu Palya Krishna's wife Lakshmi.
The nearly 40-member gang unleashed a death trail in Bangalore and other parts of the state during 1998-2000 before being arrested by Banaswadi police, and taken to prison. They were wanted in connection with the murder of a sub-inspector in Raibahuddur police station. However, they escaped from the jail. Soon after, a team was formed which arrested the 11. The trial in the remaining cases is continuing.
