RAJAHMUNDRY: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to establish the AP Forest Academy at Diwan Cheruvu in Rajahmundry, East Godavari district, to enhance training for forest personnel.
AP deputy chief minister and forest minister K Pawan Kalyan has instructed forest authorities to identify a suitable environment to provide in-depth training in wildlife conservation. Several locations were proposed by higher forest officials, and after careful evaluation, Diwan Cheruvu’s protected reserve forest was chosen due to its training facilities, natural forest environment, and accessibility.
The state government sought permission from the union ministry of environment and forests to utilize the protected reserve forest at Diwan Cheruvu. Following approval from the Centre, Pawan Kalyan directed senior forest officials to proceed with the establishment of the AP Forest Academy at the selected site.
