TIRUPATI: Cyber crime police sleuths from Vijayawada served notices to former YSRCP MP Gorantla Madhav on Thursday u/s 35 (3) of the BNS Act, asking Madhav to present himself before the cyber crime unit at Vijayawada for questioning on Mar 5.
He was summoned in connection with case registered against him in Cr.No.101/2024 u/s 72,79 of the BNS Act and sec 23 (4) of the POCSO Act. This case was registered by the cyber crime police at Vijayawada based on a complaint lodged against Gorantla Madhav by former YSRCP leader Vasireddy Padma.
It may be recalled that a few months after the TDP led NDA govt assumed office last year and there was a sudden spike in cases of sexual assault on women across the state, Gorantla Madhav held a press conference and denounced the govt’s failure in arresting the spike in sexual assault cases through effective policing. During his press conference, Madhav divulged the identities of a few victims who were subjected to sexual assaults.
Immediately after his press conference, Vasireddy Padma lodged a complaint against Gorantla Madhav at the cyber crime police station at Vijayawada on 2nd Nov last year.
Responding to the notices served to him by the cyber crime police, Gorantla Madhav alleged that the TDP led NDA govt was desperately trying to hide it’s failures by stifling the voice of the opposition by trying to intimidate them with the help of the police department.
“It is very clear that this govt is also resorting to vendetta politics though it keeps denying it. When they are faulting me for revealing the identities of victims of sexual assault, then they should also find fault with Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, deputy Chief minister Pawan Kalyan and Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha too as they also revealed the identities of sexual assault victims in the past and their videos are still available on various social media platforms.
If the govt is truly neutral then notices should also be served to all the three of them”, Gorantla Madhav stated.
