TIRUPATI: The Bharatha Yuvajana Chaitanya (BCY) Party and several pro-Hindu groups have welcomed the Andhra Pradesh government's decision to cancel 35 acres of land allocated to Mumtaz Hotels, Devalok, and other projects near Alipiri in Tirupati.
BCY chief Bode Ramachandra Yadav, along with representatives of various pro-Hindu organisations, had staged a peaceful protest march last week, demanding the state government revoke the land allocation to Mumtaz Hotels. They argued that the decision hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees of Lord Venkateswara worldwide.
Yadav also presented a set of other demands to the government, including:
- Removal of all non-Hindus working at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD)
- Establishment of a dairy farm with native (desi) cows
- Abolition of the VIP break darshan system at Tirumala
- Complete revamp of the TTD Trust Board, with representatives from spiritual organisations
The state government faced severe criticism when local police took a high-handed approach, registering cases against the BCY chief and other Hindu organisation representatives during the peaceful protest march.
However, after considering the situation, the CM announced that:
- All non-Hindus would be removed from the TTD
- G.O. Ms No:24, which sanctioned 35 acres of land for Mumtaz Hotels and Devalok projects, had been cancelled
Welcoming the decision, Ramachandra Yadav urged the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh to fulfil the remaining demands to restore the sanctity of the Tirumala shrine.
