Akshaye Khanna and Karisma Kapoor were on the verge of getting married; here's what went wrong

Akshaye Khanna is still unmarried, and a viral reel of him discussing marriage continues to circulate online, often as a meme. In the clip, he says he isn’t interested in marriage or having children, enjoying his independence and being responsible only for himself. However, did you know that, according to reports, Akshaye and Karisma Kapoor were once on the verge of getting married?
Karisma and Akshaye did a photoshoot together in the 90s post which they had started dating. Several reports suggested that Karisma had just come out of a break-up with Ajay Devgn and found solace in Akshaye. Karisma's father Randhir Kapoor was quite happy about this relationship and had even sent a marriage proposal to Akshaye's father Vinod Khanna. Everything was just about to be finalised but it was Karisma's mom Babita Kapoor who stopped the marriage. Karisma was at the peak of her career that time and Babita wanted her to concentrate on that, meanwhile, she also was reportedly not happy with Akshaye's career graph at that moment.
Thus, the wedding was called off. Later, Karisma was engaged to Abhishek Bachchan. Their engagement was announced at an event by Jaya Bachchan but eventually, that also did not work out.
Eventually, Karisma got married to Sanjay Kapur and they have two children. Karisma got married in 2003 and got divorced in 2016.
