Reporters, fake cop held for extortion

AHMEDABAD: Nikol police on Saturday arrested three reporters of a local news channel along with a man posing as a crime branch official for extorting money from an oil trader. According to police, Jayendrasinh Chudavat, Parth Patel and Dipen Patel were blackmailing an oil trader who did not give them a bill of oil tins they had purchased. “They demanded Rs 5.50 lakh.The trader had already paid them Rs 2 lakh. However the trader informed us, when the reporters with the fake cop, Rajdeep Sinh, came to extort money from him.,” said a police official. “We have arrested all four and seized their cameras and other equipment,” he said.
