Man killed after dumper rams into container truck and catches fire
Agra: A 20-year-old man from Rajasthan died after the dumper truck he was driving rammed into a container truck and caught fire in Agra on Tuesday.
Police said the incident occurred around 5 am in the Saiyan area, when the unloaded dumper truck—en route from Agra to Gwalior and driven by the victim, Nishant Sharma—crashed into a container truck ahead after he lost control when the vehicle in front suddenly braked.
After the collision, Nishant's foot got stuck under the seat, preventing him from escaping. Another crew member, Lokendra Sharma,22, managed to jump out and alerted the police. By the time help arrived, the truck had caught fire, and Nishant died of burn injuries.
Police said Lokendra was the regular driver, but had handed over the steering to Nishant earlier that morning to help him practice driving.
SHO Saiyan, Upendra Shrivastava, said, "The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem. Nishant and Lokendra are from Dhaulpur, Rajasthan. We have not yet received a complaint from the family, but a probe is underway to trace the container truck driver."
