Looking for those shiny Nightfall weapons in Destiny 2 but not sure where to start? Whether you're after the slick Scintillation or the savage Slammer, getting your hands on these legendary tools of destruction is all about timing, difficulty, and a bit of luck. Here’s how to farm Nightfall weapons the smart way.
What Are Nightfall Weapons?
Nightfall weapons are exclusive rewards tied to Destiny 2’s
Nightfall Strikes, which are tough, weekly-rotating missions. Each week features one Nightfall weapon, and that weapon rotates on a set schedule. There are eight in total, and one of them becomes the loot of the week.

How to Get Nightfall Weapons?
All you have to do is complete a Nightfall Strike, but there's a catch. The weapon drops aren’t guaranteed unless you crank up the difficulty.
Here’s how the drop chances work:
- Hero (Advanced): Low chance
- Legend (Expert): Decent chance
- Master: Better odds
- Grandmaster: Best chance, especially with a Platinum score
A
Platinum clear (killing all Champions) in a Grandmaster Nightfall guarantees a drop—but even better, it’ll be the Adept version, which comes with stat bonuses and access to Adept Mods.

Best Way to Farm Nightfall Weapons
If you want to farm efficiently, here’s the quick plan:
1. Run Grandmasters (GM)
- Get a full fireteam and run GMs when you can.
- Aim for Platinum by killing all Champions.
- Adept weapon guaranteed = totally worth the sweat.
2. Double Loot Weeks = Jackpot
- Bungie often enables “double Nightfall drops” on certain weeks.
- That means two weapons for one run. Don’t miss these.
3. Go Fast, Go Often
- If GMs are too tough, stick to Master Nightfalls.
- Run them quickly with a good team. More completions = more chances.
Repeat until you get that perfect roll.
Bonus: Use Vanguard Engrams for Extra Rolls
If RNG isn’t on your side, head to Commander Zavala in the Tower. Once you’ve earned a Nightfall weapon (even once), you can focus Vanguard Engrams to get more rolls.
Here’s what it costs:
- Normal weapon: 5 Engrams + 25,000 Glimmer
- Adept version: 1 Engram + 50,000 Glimmer + 10 Nightfall Ciphers
- Legacy Nightfall weapons: 3 Engrams + 25,000 Glimmer
Nightfall Ciphers only drop from Grandmasters—and you can only hold 10 at a time—so plan wisely.
Don’t wait till the weekend—start early in the week. Use tools like Destiny’s Companion App or TodayInDestiny to track the current rotation. Know what’s dropping, and go farm it.
