Ajith Kumar returns with a striking transformation in 'Good Bad Ugly', directed by the young and energetic
Adhik Ravichandran. The film, set in a gangster-comedy backdrop, created massive buzz ahead of its April 10 release, hitting screens worldwide in multiple languages. Despite mixed to negative reviews from both critics and audiences, the film has managed to perform decently at the box office, largely driven by Ajith’s fanbase and the star power he brings.
Box office performance vs expectations
According to Sacnilk, opening day collections stood strong at Rs 51.50 crore globally during the four day first weekend, and the film managed to gross Rs 170 crore worldwide in 7 days. While these numbers suggest a solid opening, the film’s long-term box office journey remains uncertain due to its mixed reception. On day 8 (Thursday), the action entertainer reportedly fell deeply as it received poor occupancy for morning and afternoon shows. The early predictions for the film on day 8 suggest that it might add less than Rs 7 crore on Wednesday with evening and night shows anticipated to make some recovery. Meanwhile, trade analysts believe it may take longer than expected to reach the break-even mark, and sustaining momentum will be the key to its commercial success.
