Vijayawada: After skipping attendance before the
special investigation team (SIT) probing the alleged liquor scam case, Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy has moved the high court seeking anticipatory bail.
Rajasekhar was summoned to record his statement as a witness in the case four times. However, he did not appear before the SIT. On Saturday, an audio clip was released in which a person identifying himself as Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy said he would appear before the SIT after exercising his legal options. He also mentioned that he would reveal the other side of the story and information about V Vijaysai Reddy.
The SIT issued notices to Rajasekhar after the then MD of Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation, D Vasudeva Reddy, stated that he was behind all liquor deals that took place during the YSRCP regime. Former MP Vijaysai Reddy also stated that Rajasekhar holds the key to the scam and can answer all the questions related to the alleged irregularities.
On Friday, Vijaysai described Rajasekhar as a "person with a criminal mindset" and reiterated that he can only explain what happened back then. He also admitted that Rajasekhar, P Mithun Reddy, along with others met at his residences in Hyderabad and Vijayawada to discuss business, and he facilitated a loan of Rs 100 crore.
Rajasekhar earlier challenged the SIT notices on the grounds of jurisdiction. He argued that SIT does not have jurisdiction to summon him as he is a resident of Telangana. However, the high court dismissed his arguments but directed the SIT to give him sufficient time to attend questioning. SIT officials again issued notices to Rajasekhar to appear before them and also conducted searches at properties owned by him.
In his anticipatory bail plea, he argued that he was implicated in a false case based on statements given by the accused and other witnesses in the case. In the audio released on Saturday, the voice claiming to be Rajasekhar Reddy said so far only one side of the story is being presented, and he will reveal his side of the story soon. He stated that he has filed a petition before the Supreme Court and also sought anticipatory bail from the high court. He also countered the statement given by Vijaysai, calling him a cheater (battebaaz), and adding that he will reveal everything about Vijaysai.
