LUCKNOW: A 25-year-old woman, upset that her husband never took her out or paid attention to her desires, allegedly plotted his brutal murder with her lover.
According to police, 26-year-old victim, Harendra Verma a hardworking man known for his devotion to his family—was killed by his wife, Uma Devi, and her paramour, Jitendra Verma, in a planned attack on the night of April 30.
Harendra had gone to his in-laws’ place in Kaurapur for his brother-in-law’s wedding. He was last seen during a post-wedding feast on May 2. Later that night, his bloodied body was discovered near a school field on the village outskirts.
SP Vikash Kumar said Uma was unhappy in her marriage and continued her years-old relationship with Jitendra even after marrying Harendra four years ago. The duo had made several failed attempts to eliminate him before finally succeeding, with the help of five others—Sachin Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Santosh Verma, Kumar, and Mukesh Sahu. All seven have been arrested.
“Uma told interrogators that Harendra was always busy with work, never took her anywhere, and ignored her needs. This frustration led her back to Jitendra, and together they plotted the murder,” police sources said.
Harendra’s grieving father and neighbors remembered him as a kind-hearted and helpful man. “He was our only son. If Uma wasn’t happy, why didn’t she just leave? Why destroy a whole family?” said his father, Chandraprakash Verma.
