Panaji: A person was killed after he was hit and dragged by a car when the driver allegedly lost control and drove over the footpath at Socorro, Porvorim, on Sunday.
Porvorim PI Rahul Parab said that Riyan Ramzan Shaikh, 28, a resident of Sancoale, drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Porvorim towards Paithana. Upon reaching the temple, he lost control and veered towards the right-hand side.
He said Shaikh rammed into a parked scooter and then drove over the footpath, hitting Umesh Muttagi, a resident of Socorro, who was sitting on a concrete bench installed on the footpath.
“The car dragged the victim around 12m away. The victim was declared brought dead at North Goa district hospital,” Parab said.
Parab also said that the same vehicle collided with another motorcycle.
