AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge conveyed his condolences over the death of devotees.
"We are deeply saddened by the stampede in Lairai Devi temple in Goa where 6 people have died and almost 30 injured. Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the bereaved. Some of the victims are reportedly critically injured, we wish them a speedy and a complete recovery. Our thoughts are with the victims of this tragedy," said Kharge.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed grief over the tragic stampede during the Lairai Devi temple festivities in Shirgao village, Goa.
The stampede occurred in the early hours of Saturday amid a large gathering of devotees attending the annual yatra. As per initial reports, at least six people lost their lives, and over 30 others sustained injuries.
“Saddened by the loss of lives due to a stampede in Shirgao, Goa. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected,” read a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The six persons who died at the Shirgao Jatra stampede include, Surya Mayekar resident of Sakhali Bicholim, Pratibha Kalangutkar resident of Kumbharjua, Yeshwant Kerkar resident of Thivim, Sagar Nandarge resident of Mathwada Piligao, Aditya Kauthankar and Tanuja Kauthankar both resident of Auchit Wada Thivim.

Chief minister Pramod Sawant visited hospitals where the injured from the Shirgao Jatra stampede are being treated. He assured all possible support to the affected families and stated that he is personally monitoring the situation to ensure necessary measures are being taken.
"I visited the hospital to meet the injured and have assured all possible support to the affected families. I am personally monitoring the situation to ensure that every necessary measure is being taken,” Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.
He also added, "Prime Minister spoke to me and took detailed stock of the situation, offering his full support during this difficult time."
