Supari killers who shot dead Class 12student for Rs 10k in ‘23 get life term
Agra: A court in Aligarh sentenced two contract killers -- Kunal and Aftab -- to life in prison for shooting dead a Class 12 student near his school following a dispute involving a girl from the same institution in 2023.
The two were hired by a youngster from the girl's village for Rs 10,000 to teach Prince Kumar, 17, "a lesson for talking to her in school".
District govt counsel Jitendra Singh told TOI: "Based on evidence and testimony of witnesses, Kunal and Aftab, who were in their late 20s, were given life term by district judge Sanjiv Kumar on Wednesday while the third accused, who hired the killers, was acquitted due to lack of concrete proof."
On May 5 that year, the supari killers executed the "plan" in morning hours. After hearing gunfire, a few students ran after the two men, caught and then thrashed them before handing them over to police. Son of a truck driver, Prince, who lived in Aligarh's Kamalpur village, was rushed to hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
An FIR was registered against three persons under sections 302 (murder), 504 (intentional insult), 120-B (conspiracy) and 34 (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention) of IPC following a complaint by Prince's uncle, Vijay Bahadur, at Tappal thana.
All three were subsequently arrested. A charge sheet was filed weeks later. The court later acquitted one of them and pronounced the two supari killers guilty for the student's brutal murder.
