BenQ has unveiled the W2720i, which the company says is the world's first AI-powered home cinema projector, featuring an AI Cinema Mode designed for AV enthusiasts. The premium projector will be available through retail Home AVSI Partners from April onwards at an MRP of Rs 3,50,000.
The W2720i's standout feature is its AI Cinema Mode, which utilizes built-in camera sensors to deliver automatic picture optimization based on ambient lighting conditions and content. This technology provides real-time brightness adjustments and scene-specific enhancements for a customized viewing experience.
With true 4K UHD resolution (8.3 million pixels) and a high-brightness 4LED light source generating 2500 ANSI-lumens, the projector delivers exceptional image quality with a light source lifetime of up to 30,000 hours. The W2720i can project images up to 200 inches in diagonal size from just 2.7 meters away.
BenQ's CinematicColor technology ensures 90% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage (98% Rec. 709), while the advanced HDR-PRO™ technology enhances contrast in both bright and dark scenes. The projector supports HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG formats, and features a Local Contrast Enhancer for improved dynamic range.
Installation flexibility is another key advantage, with features including 1.3x zoom, Auto Screen Fit, 8-point Corner Fit, and Vertical Lens Shift. The W2720i comes with built-in Android TV supporting 4K streaming services like Netflix and Disney+.
Connectivity options include one HDMI 2.1 port supporting 4K at 120Hz, two HDMI 2.0b ports, SPDIF, and eARC for 7.1 channel sound with Dolby Atmos pass-through.
"The W2720i represents a significant contribution towards making premium AI-powered home cinema experiences accessible to more Indian consumers," said Rajeev Singh, Managing Director of BenQ India & South Asia. "Its innovative AI Cinema Mode and superior colour performance demonstrate our commitment to bringing cutting-edge technology to every home."
