Max Verstappen has announced the birth of his first child with girlfriend Kelly Piquet. The couple welcomed a baby girl on Friday and named her Lily. Sharing two monochrome pictures on Instagram, Max Verstappen wrote, “Welcome to the world, sweet Lily. Our hearts are fuller than ever - you are our greatest gift. We love you so much.”
The first picture shows the child’s hand holding a finger of her parent. The second picture shows Verstappen, Piquet, and the baby girl in one frame. The internet burst with congratulatory messages from F1 colleagues and fans for the new father.

Red Bull principal Christian Horner reacted to the post, “Welcome to the world Lily - Congratulations,” along with a clinking glasses emoji. Max’s sister Victoria Verstappen wrote, “Can’t wait to meet.”
Alpine F1 driver Jack Doohan wrote, “Congratulations to you both!” Former F1 driver Roberto Merhi Muntan commented on the post, “Congrats! They say becoming a dad adds 0.2 seconds per lap.” A comment from Visa read: “Congratulations, got to add a little ‘Lily’ sticker to the livery this weekend.” A fan also commented, “Best reason to skip media day.”
The couple had announced the pregnancy in December last year. Sharing a close-up picture of Verstappen’s hand on Piquet’s belly, they had written, “Mini Verstappen-Piquet on the way. We couldn’t be happier with our little miracle.” Kelly also has a daughter from her earlier relationship.

It’s not known if Verstappen will fly back to continue with the race schedule. After the Sprint Qualifying on Friday, the F1 Sprint race is scheduled for Saturday while the final race is on Sunday. Verstappen has won one race this season, the Japanese Grand Prix, but looks close enough to clinch a few more wins this year. And with the arrival of lady luck, there are even more chances of Verstappen clinching more victories.
