India vs Australia, Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024‑25 Schedule

India's path to the World Test Championship (WTC) final, once appearing smooth ahead of New Zealand’s tour, has hit a rough patch following a surprising 3-0 series loss to New Zealand.

Prior to this setback, India led the WTC standings with a percentage (PCT) of 68.06, comfortably ahead of other teams. However, the series defeat brought a steep drop, with India’s PCT sliding to 62.82, narrowing the gap between them and Australia at 62.50 and Sri Lanka at 55.56.

After the third Test in Mumbai, India’s PCT dipped further to 58.33, placing them second behind Australia on the WTC points table.

With the 2023-2025 WTC cycle heating up, India faces a high-stakes series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, featuring five Tests. To stay in contention, India needs to win at least four out of these five matches.

The road ahead remains challenging, with India’s WTC final hopes hinging not only on their performance but potentially on the outcomes of other series as well.
