Once St. Clair’s revelation about having Musk’s child went public, users began dissecting Fong’s connection to Musk—and her earnings from the platform. Things escalated when someone on X posted: “Breaking: Tiffany Fong pregnant with Elon Musk’s 17th child.” Fong swiftly shut down the rumors, tweeting, “As far as I know, I am not pregnant, but thank you!!!” She also clarified that she had never even met Musk in person, calling the speculation baseless and absurd.
But according to a Wall Street Journal report, there was more going on behind the scenes. Around the time of these rumors, Musk had reportedly sent Fong a direct message, asking if she’d be interested in having his child. The two had never met in person, but the message shocked Fong. She didn’t pursue it, the report said, because she envisioned a more traditional family setup. Still, she confided in a few friends about the proposal—one of them being Ashley St. Clair, a fellow conservative figure on social media.
Fong worried that turning down Musk might affect her visibility—and it seems it did. The WSJ report claims that when Musk learned she had shared his message with others, he unfollowed her. That decision appeared to trigger a decline in her online engagement and income.
The Tesla CEO had followed Tiffany Fong in the summer of 2024 when she was reporting on crypto tycoon Sam Bankman-Fried. His likes and replies became more frequent as Fong started sharing political content supportive of Donald Trump. As part of the revenue-sharing program for creators on X, Tiffany's engagements with Musk came as a financial blessing as more interactions with Musk who has 219 million followers meant more earnings.
