My role in Mass Leader is a good break for me: Gururaj Jaggesh
Gururaj Jaggesh is no stranger in filmi circles. He is, after all, the son of Comedy King Jaggesh. An actor, writer and filmmaker himself, Gururaj has been testing waters in Sandalwood, with the occasional acting gig. This week, he will be seen in Century Star Shivarajkumar’s Mass Leader, which he believes will be a good break for him.
“Director Narasimha Murthy and I are good pals, so, I have been involved with the project since its scripting.

There were five different narrations before this version was locked to be made into the film. I play an army officer, a subordinate to Shivanna’s character, who always hangs out with him and Vijay Raghavendra because of the bond they share on account of being from Karnataka. Even though Shivanna is my superior officer, our relationship does not function on that hierarchy, and is, instead, cemented firmly in friendship,” he says.
His character, adds Gururaj, has 2-3 shades to it and even provides some comic relief. “It’s a very well etched character, who is not just there for the sake of it. One of the most important things that my character brings to the narrative is his loyalty to his leader. This is a good break for me and, personally, I think this film will give me the exposure that maybe 10 films as a solo hero could,” says the actor.
When he is not on a film set these days, Gururaj is busy playing daddy to his two-year-old son. “I am a hands-on dad. In fact, I turned down a few projects, because even though they were not bad, they were not worth having me spend time away from my family and being in a film that I am not a 100% committed to. But now that he has started playschool, I can get back to working ‘full-time’. I have signed a couple of films and audiences will see a lot more of me in the days ahead,” he signs off.
