Arna Mukhopadhyay is hopeful about Shesher Golpo

Arna Mukhopadhyay is quite hopeful about his newly released film, Shesher Golpo. The actor told us that the concept and treatment of the film are quite unique and that’s why he liked it so much. Arna, who plays young Amit in the film, said he was a bit afraid when he first heard the story. “It is such a huge responsibility because the story of the film depends on Shesher Kobita, which is a milestone novel by Tagore.

But I made sure that pressure only helped me perform better in the film,” Arna told us with a smile.
The iconic central characters of the novel -- Amit Ray and Labanya Dutta -- happen to meet again in their twilight years at an old-age home. Will there be happy reminiscing of old times or are there some hidden grievances to share? “Many people have loved the concept. Many have said that they would love to work on such a story in future,” said the film’s director, Jiit Chakraborty.
Arna is a popular face in Bengal’s theatre circle. Amid the hullabaloo of his latest production, Mahabharata, Arna tied the knot in February this year. His wife, Upabela Pal, has been his long associate in the theatre group he acts in. “She joined the group in 2006-07 and we have been working together ever since. She was in school that time. Over the years, our bonding has grown stronger. Our entire group is like a family and we all share a great bond. While I am extremely close to all the members, with Upabela, it was a bit different. Though there was no ceremonial proposal or anything of that sort, we knew we would be together forever,” Arna told us.
