Woman ends life over husband’s harassment in Vizianagaram district

Visakhapatnam: Unable to bear with her husband's alleged harassments, a 45-year-old woman on Thursday hanged herself at her residence in Gollapeta locality under Bhogapuram police station limits in Vizianagaram district.
The woman was identified as I Ankayamma. According to police, she had married her relative I Ramana of Rajapulova about two decades ago and the couple was blessed with three children.
The couple had shifted to Gollapeta in search of livelihood. Ramana had been harassing Ankayamma for the past two years as she was opposing to sell a piece a their land. About a year ago, the woman had approached the police with harassment complaint against her husband. However, the cops had counselled the couple and warned Ramana before letting him go.
Ramana continued to harass Ankayamma over the property-related issue, following which, the woman ended her life.
Police registered a case and started investigating into the matter.
