Vijayawada: An elderly couple from Peravali village in Vemuru mandal of Bapatla district approached the police seeking protection from their own son. The couple, identified as Amire Chandrasekhar and Varakumari, said in their complaint that their son Veerabasavayya, instead supporting them in their old age, has been subjecting them to physical and mental harassment.
Vemuru sub-inspector Ravi Krishna said the elderly couple stated that they fear for their lives as their son was constantly threatening to kill them, was behaving violently under the influence of alcohol, and constantly demanding money from them. They lamented that while they are struggling to survive on their daily wages, their son was abusing them constantly. Distressed by the threats, the couple sought the help of Vemuru police, pleading for justice and protection.
"Our son is tormenting us while we are still alive. He threatens to kill us and beats us every day after getting drunk. We are surviving on our daily wages, yet he demands money and assaults us. If no action is taken against him, he might kill us any moment. We seek justice and protection," they told the police. Responding to the complaint, Vemuru police summoned Veerabasavayya to the police station for counselling. Police have registered a case and assured the elderly couple of necessary action.
