One dead and 25 injured in accident

TRICHY: An accident involving a lorry and a government bus left one dead and twenty five passengers injured on Trichy-Madurai four-way lane on the outskirts of Trichy in the early hours on Tuesday. A Kanyakumari-bound SETC bus from Chennai hit the rear side of the cement laden truck near Manikandam in Trichy district at around 3 am. The bus driver John Britto was killed on the spot while 25 passengers on board sustained severe injuries.The lorry was parked on the road side. On getting the information, the police rushed to the spot and moved the injured people to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital. The hospital sources said that their health condition was stable.
