Chain snatched from woman on scooter near Trichy junction RoB
Trichy: A bike-borne robber snatched a gold chain from a 47-year-old woman riding pillion on a scooter near the Trichy junction Road Over Bridge (RoB) on Monday morning.
The victim, V Latha, an office assistant at ESI Hospital in Periya Milaguparai, was on her way to work with a colleague around 5.45 am when the incident occurred. As they reached the upper rotary of the RoB near Mannarpuram, an unidentified man on a two-wheeler approached from behind and snatched a gold chain weighing three sovereigns from Latha's neck before fleeing.
Police said the victim did not fall off the scooter. She lodged a complaint with the E Pudur police later that night, and a case has been registered.
This is the second chain-snatching reported in the RoB vicinity this year. In January, a 39-year-old woman on a moped was similarly robbed of a three-sovereign gold chain. On March 28, another woman riding a scooter with her children was targeted by a chain-snatcher on the Trichy–Pudukottai national highway near the city airport.
