THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister A K Antony on Sunday stressed the need for a renaissance movement in the state to raise the moral standards of people irrespective of party affiliations.
Speaking after releasing a souvenir marking the 25th year of the Vayalar Rama Varma literary award in memory of the veteran lyricist, he said there had been erosion in values among the middle class in the state over the years.

Though the standard of living of the middle class was better when compared to other states, their `moral foundation'' had been shattered, he said.
Former chief minister P K Vasudevan Nair, litterateurs O N V Kurup and M K Sanu also spoke at the function.
