Thiruvananthapuram: A 14-year-old boy studying in Class IX was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his house in Venganoor on Saturday morning.
Police identified the deceased as Alok Nath AS, son of Sabarinath of Kailas Veedu near Chavadinada in Venganoor.
The body was found lying on the bedroom floor with an elongated bruise with pale blue discolouration around the neck.
According to the police, preliminary postmortem findings revealed hanging as the cause of death.
However, the police remain clueless about the method and what was used for hanging.
The body was first spotted by his mother when she went to his room located on the first floor of the house to wake him up for school. As she found him lying motionless on the floor, she immediately informed his relatives, who live in another house in the same compound, and they rushed the boy to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
"Hanging is the cause of death, but how it happened needs to be identified. We could not find a rope, wire, or any other material that could be used for hanging in the room. The mobile phone used by the boy has been confiscated to examine whether there was any involvement of any external force behind his death. The games on the mobile phone will also be checked. Samples have been sent for chemical examination as well," said the police.
Balaramapuram police registered a case under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita for unnatural death.
The boy was studying at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Naruvamoodu, and his father works in Saudi Arabia.
His mother is a homemaker, and he has a four-year-old sister.
