Massive fire in Maharashtra's Palghar warehouse destroys 80-90 tonnes of rice

A fire destroyed around 80 to 90 tons of rice at the Adivasi Vikas Mahamandal warehouse in Palghar's Jawhar Taluka. The fire brigade controlled the blaze with four water tankers, but the extent of damage will be known after the official assessment. PALGHAR: Around 80 to 90 ton of rice was burnt in a wire that took place in the warehouse of the Adivasi Vikas Mahamandal, located in Jawhar Taluka, Palghar district.
This wee hours fire on Tuesday destroyed rice purchased from the villagers as it was a purchase time. The locals were the first respondents to this incident later followed by the fire brigade and the police personnel.
It took four water tankers for the fire brigade department to control the fire, which was sought from two fire stations Boisar and Dahanu.
Heavy machinery like poclain excavator was used to promptly separate the rice sacks which hadnt caught fire. The fire spread rapidly as they were stored in brown-cloth sacks.
The exact amount of damage would be ascertained once the panchanama would be conducted by the government officials.
We were informed about the fire to our godown at Ghol Patil pada and accordingly we alerted the cops and the fire brigade department.
Once the panchanam is conducted we shall arive at the final numbers in terms of losses incurred, said an official from the Adivasi Vikas Mahamandal.
