THANE: The Bhiwandi Crime Branch has arrested two criminals from Karnataka for breaking into a godown and stealing laptops.
According to police, the duo forcibly entered the godown, stole the laptops, and fled. A case was registered, and the crime branch launched a parallel investigation.
During the probe, Assistant Inspector Dhanraj Kedar received secret intelligence and analyzed CCTV footage and technical evidence, which helped identify the accused. They were traced to Kanyakol Tanda, Taluka Shahpur, District Yadgiri, Karnataka.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Dilip Basavaraj Chavan (20) and Arjun Munnu Rathod (23), both residents of Purnagaon, Bhiwandi.
"During skillful interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime," said Amar Singh Jadhav, DCP (Crime).
Police seized 26 Lenovo laptops worth ₹23.4 lakh and a motorcycle used in the crime worth ₹1.25 lakh, bringing the total value of the recovered items to ₹24.65 lakh.
The arrested suspects, along with a wanted accomplice, are natives of District Yadgiri, Karnataka. They are habitual offenders known for surveying godowns before breaking in by smashing walls with hammers, an officer said.
Previously, they were also booked for burglary at Bhiwandi Rural Police Station.
