Shimla: The
Congress has accused the
BJP of not taking the problems of rising inflation and unemployment seriously. The way the prices of diesel, petrol and LPG cylinders are increasing today, lives of the poor have been affected, Himachal Pradesh Congress senior spokesperson Naresh Chouhan told media persons here on Monday. He also questioned the programme organized in the honour of BJP national president
Jagat Prakash Nadda during his Shimla visit, saying the saffron party should explain how crores were spent on this programme.
Accusing the state government of misusing government machinery, he said it is clear from Nadda’s silence on rising prices of essential commodities that he has nothing to do with the problems of the people. The BJP leaders, who used to shed crocodile tears on inflation when
UPA was in power, have no policy on dealing with the issue, he said. Today, after the elections in five states, there is a sudden increase of 40-50% inflation and even prices of life saving drugs have gone up, he added. Assembly elections ahead, the chief minister is now trying to woo the people with announcements, he alleged. Referring to the drinking water problem in Shimla, he alleged that the CM had given the water company a free hand to loot people. The crisis is there for the last 25 days, but there has been no meeting on it.
