The event was organised jointly by Shillong Press Club, directorate of information and public relations, Meghalaya govt and Meghalaya Editors and Publishers Association at the State Convention Centre.
This year’s theme reflected the evolving dynamics of the media landscape.
Chief minister Conrad K Sangma attended the afternoon session.
Extending his greetings to the press fraternity, he wrote on social media, “The Press continues to contribute to the nation’s democratic fabric through an informed electorate. May they work in the interest of the people, upholding their trust as watchdogs of democracy. On the occasion of National Press Day, I extend my warm greetings to journalists across the country, and especially in Meghalaya. This day symbolises a free and responsible media in India. We recognise the vital role of journalists as the conscience keepers of our democracy, as they uncover the truth in a free, fair, and responsible manner. I wish them all the very best in their endeavours.”
