Shillong: Sector commander level co-ordination meet between Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was held on Tuesday at BOP Mahenderganj in South West Garo Hills, enforcing the ‘friendly relationship’ between the border forces of the two nations, an official statement from the
BSF read.
While the BSF delegation was led by Lalit Mohan Sharma, DIG, sector HQ BSF, Tura, Sarkar Mohammd Mostafir, deputy director general, sector commander BGB, Mymensingh, led the BGB team.
“During the meeting, commanders of both the forces discussed on various border-related issues such as co-ordinated border management plan and other matters of mutual interest,” a statement issued by the BSF Meghalaya read.
“At the end of the conference, both sides expressed satisfaction with the meaningful and cordial discussions, which reflected a friendly bilateral relationship between the two countries. Both sides have agreed to implement the decisions more expeditiously,” the statement underscored.
Earlier, during his two-day visit to the BSF Meghalaya frontier on Sunday, BSF ADG, Eastern Command, Kolkata, Ravi Gandhi reviewed the security and discussed various operational and administrative aspects of border management.
“On October 20, 2024, the ADG was welcomed by IG BSF Meghalaya, Harbax Singh Dhillon, along with other senior officers. In Meghalaya, he interacted with villagers from border areas of the South West Garo Hills district at BOP-Bahadur, 50 Bn BSF,” a BSF statement said.
