Teacher held for sexually harassing girl student in Salem

SALEM: A temporary physical education teacher of a govt-aided school was arrested on Thursday for sexually harassing a 16-year-old girl student in Salem district.
"The teacher had taken a photograph standing close to the girl. He used the photo to intimidate and sexually harass the girl daily," said an officer from the all-women police station in Omalur.
On Thursday, the girl reported the incident to her school headmaster, who then contacted Child Line 1098.
Officials from Child Line held an investigation with the girl and subsequently filed a police complaint against the teacher. Police registered a case against the teacher under the Pocso Act.
The accused teacher was arrested and remanded in judicial custody. He was later lodged at the Salem Central Prison.
