Koderma woman arrested for killing minor step-grandson
Koderma: A woman was arrested for allegedly strangulating her six-year-old step-grandson to death at Telaiya in Koderma on Saturday night reportedly out of malice, police said on Thursday.
Vikram was alone at home as his mother had gone to fetch water. The child's body was hastily buried the next morning. But villagers noticed marks on the boy's neck and shared their suspicion with the parents, who registered a complaint with the Telaiya police.
Koderma SP Anudeep Singh formed a special team to probe the matter. The body was exhumed in the presence of a magistrate and sent for post-mortem examination.
"The family members were questioned. Rekha Devi (57) confessed to the crime. She has been sent to jail. A piece of cloth and a rope believed to have been used in the crime were seized. Investigation is on to find if others were involved in the crime," the SP said.
