Girl's 'harassment' sparks clash in city

Ranchi: Violence gripped Lavalatu basti under Pundag police station on Sunday after two groups clashed after a girl was allegedly sexually harassed. "The girl was beaten when she protested. She has filed a complaint against three men," said an officer on condition of anonymity.
The girl's parents tried to sort the issue by going to one of the accused's house to beat him.It led to a minor clash between the two groups. "The police have arrested the accused, Mohd Imran," said officer in-charge of Pundag police outpost Anand Kumar Singh. Additional forces were deployed in the area to ensure the incident did not escalate. "We are conducting raids to arrest the other accused," said Singh.
SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi said police have arrested wanted criminal Sujit Sinha from Puri in Odiha. The criminal was arrested by a special team sent to Odisha. "He was wanted for more than 25 cases of extortion and murder," Dwivedi said.
