Garhwa to develop Khajuri dam for fishing and tourism
Garhwa: The district administration plans to develop Khajuri dam in Majhiaon block, following the successful model of Anraj Dam, to generate employment through fishing and tourism initiatives.
District Commissioner Shekhar Jamuar announced on Sunday, "The development of Khajuri dam will enhance both fishing activities and tourism, boosting local income sources. The project includes boating facilities, approach road construction, and area beautification. A new irrigation canal will also benefit local agriculture."
The initiative comes in response to concerns raised by villagers during the DC's recent visit to Majhiaon block, where unemployment has led to migration to other cities. The development is expected to curb this exodus by creating local employment opportunities.
District fishery officer Dhanraj Kapse said, "The infrastructure development, including cage fishing facilities, will create self-employment opportunities for villagers."
