Ranchi: The criminal investigation department (CID) of the state police has nabbed two main accused in the alleged Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE) 2023 paper leak case. The duo are identified as Sandep Tripathi and Vivek Ranjan and they were arrested on Wednesday from Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, CID officials said on Thursday.
A senior CID officer said, "The two accused persons were involved in mobilizing gang members in Bihar and Jharkhand to collect funds from aspirants in the name of providing them question papers before the examination."
With Wednesday's arrest, the number of accused in CID's custody in connection with the case has gone up to 10. Earlier on Monday, it arrested eight persons, including IRB constables Kunan Kumar, Robin Kumar, Gaurav Kumar and two with the same name Akhilesh Kumar. The three others were home guard Niwas Kumar Rai and Assam Rifles jawan Ram Niwas Rai and his nephew Kaviraj.
Soon after getting news about the question leak, the CID registered an FIR (1/2025) under various sections of the BNS and the Jharkhand Competitive Examination (Prevention and Redressal of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act 2023. A CID team headed by deputy inspector general Sandhya Mehta is investigating the case.
The CID has said so far, it has not found any evidence that there was a leak of the original question papers of the examination.
