RAIPUR: Sanjeet Desai’s crucial 180-ball 139, the only ton in the match, coupled with disciplined bowling by the bowlers guided Chhattisgarh to an inning and 61 runs win over Bihar in a Col C K Nayudu Trophy match, played from January 1 to 4.
Winning the toss, Chhattisgarh chose to field first. After being put into bat, Bihar was all-out for 160 runs as Gagandeep took four wickets while Deepak Singh took three.
Similarly, S K Chadda claimed two wickets. All top order batsmen of Bihar got a good start but they could not convert it into big ones. Openers Rajesh and Sraman Nigrodh provided a steady start as they contributed 35 and 20 respectively. Similarly, Ankit Raj (25 off 61), Akash Raj (38 off 74) and Abhishek Babu (20 off 38), all got a start, but they failed to make it big.
In reply to Bihar’s first inning total, Chhattisgarh put 376 on the scoreboard after a steady start by the openers Ayush Pandey (48 off 67) and Aditya Singh (19 off 57), taking a decisive 216-run lead in the first innings.
Vijay Yadav contributed 50 off 65 and Deepak Singh made 42 off 42.
Bihar could score 155 in their second innings while trailing 216 runs. Except Sraman (54off 97) and Suraj Kashyap (46 off 30), no other batsmen could perform for the team.
Vijay claimed four scalps for Chhattisgarh in the second innings while Gagandeep and Chandda took two each. Deepak and Satyam Dubey took one wicket each. Chhattisgarh earned seven points from the inning victory in the match.
