Patna: A 65-year-old woman was shot and injured by her grandson over a land dispute at Dumri village under Bihta police station area of Patna district on Tuesday night. Three other people were also injured in the clash between two families. A motorcycle and a cellphone were recovered from the spot. Raids were being carried out to nab the accused, said police.
According to police, the injured was identified as Asha Devi, wife of late Ram Ratna Ram, her daughter-in-law Anita Devi (35), her son Chandan Kumar, and Sanjeev alias Tony (50) from the other side. All the injured were initially taken to the govt hospital in Bihta. Later, the doctors referred them to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
Police said around 20 people, including Billi Gop, Golu Kumar, and Rahul Kumar from Jamalpur village, attacked Asha's house. Her maternal grandson (naati) and his associates fired the shots at her. He was abusive over an ancestral land dispute and threatened to kill them, they said.
Danapur (SDPO-2, Pankaj Mishra, said, "Information was received about a clash and shooting between two parties over a land dispute in Dumri village of Bihta. A woman was shot at and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. She is now out of danger. The investigation revealed that the shooter was the injured woman, Asha Devi's grandson."
Mishra added that an FIR was registered against more than six named persons and several unidentified persons, including Asha's grandson, Golu. The police are investigating the case and conducting raids to arrest those involved in the attack.
